My partner and i love coming here for brunch. This spot is popular! Do NOT come the last hour and expect to sit outside (there's usually a nice wait to sit outside). Indoors is more intimate and a bit closer together to one another (sometimes can be stuff on a hot day). Overall, we have no complaints on service or food, only endless complements! The staff here is killer. They have brunch on lock and work very hard to get everyone on the waitlist seated. Every time we come here it's never a disappointment. The food is absolutely delicious and the most authentic french style i've found for breakfast/brunch. Bring friends, a partner, or whoever... it's perfect for conversation on a nice day.

Between the French-inspired menu and the cute back patio, it's clear why La Note is a Berkeley brunch favorite. I attended a brunch with a large group (~10 people), and due to the size of our group, we were instructed to order off a prix fixe menu. The first course consisted of a bread basket with croissants, brioche, and baguettes, which we all helped ourselves to while perusing the brunch options - a variety of pancakes, eggs, and sandwiches. Since our brunch skewed more towards lunchtime, I ordered the baguette jambon-buerre. Despite the size of our group, our food came out quickly. The baguette jambon-buerre was delicious - the bread tasted fresh from the bakery, and the cornichons added a nice crunch. The side salad was dressed with a tangy vinaigrette, which was very refreshing alongside all of the rich, buttery ingredients. I wish the prix fixe menu included some lighter options (e.g., soups, green salads), but overall, the breakfast options were solid.

My mom and I decided to treat ourselves to a meal at La Note before heading to the Oakland Zoo, and boy, were we glad we did! Despite the busy atmosphere, we were promptly seated, thanks to their efficient staff. Our server was not only friendly but also incredibly accommodating, ensuring we made it to our zoo reservations on time. As for the food, it was delicious! Each bite was bursting with flavor, and the French vibes added an extra touch of charm to our dining experience. From the ambiance to the cuisine, La Note exceeded our expectations in every way possible. If you find yourself in downtown Berkeley craving a delightful meal with a side of French flair, this is the place to check out!

Came here on a Saturday morning for brunch and was definitely busy. Wait wasn't too long and got seated. It's cute inside and tables pretty close together as it's not a huge space. We started with the basket of bread. I got the plate with eggs, bacon, and pancake. The basket of bread was good. 4 different kinds with butter and jam. Fresh, soft, and can't really go wrong. Food was fine but didn't seem amazing. Our entrees lacked much flavor and pancake was pretty dense. Eggs were fluffy and all the plates looked nice but didn't leave me craving any of it again.

The perfect cafe in Berkeley! Came in on a Wednesday for lunch and it was packed but no wait for a table. Service was quick! The inside was cute and cozy. I loved the little dogs in the corner too. We ordered the ham & cheese, eggs with tomatoes (the tomatoes are what they're known for!), and the croque madame. Everything was so simple, fresh, and executed well! The bread was crispy and still chewy! Will always come back when in Berkeley!

La Note absolutely lives up to its fame and popularity! This is probably the best spot in Berkeley for a brunch date if you can find a table. You may have to wait if you don't have a reservation but otherwise the service is excellent once you are in. I got a ham omelette for a rather hefty price close to $20. My girlfriend got a pancake and said it was very good. Although the food served here is simple, the flavor of the omelette left me wondering how they managed to make it taste so good. There was nothing out of the ordinary about it; it was simply crafted to perfection. Come to La Note if you want to start your day off right. It will make you happy for the remainder of the day :)

Thursday 2024/02/15 13:00 - classy French brunch spot, popular among Berkeley students - waiting time for a table can get pretty long on the weekends, but there was no wait this time - service was pretty lax; we had to flag down the waiter to order and to get the bill - we dined in as a party of 2 COTE NORD ($17.00): "Two eggs lightly scrambled with cream cheese, over toasted levain bread, with homefries and tomatoes," topped with an orange slice - soft-scrambled eggs with ultra creamy and buttery and paired very well with the thick slices of crunchy levain toast - potatoes were hearty and flavorful, but I would prefer them to be more crispy - grilled tomatoes were tasty and not too oily Saturday 2024/02/24 13:00 - super crowded, and the waiters/waitresses forgot about us a couple times - we dined in as a party of 2, and the wait time for the table was ~50 minutes BRIOCHE PAIN PERDU ($18.00) (lavender honey on the side): "Three generous slices of...cinnamon brioche soaked in orange flower water batter," with butter, maple syrup, and lavender honey on the side and topped with powdered sugar and an orange slice - French toast itself was sweet and rich enough to be eaten plain, but I liked trying different combinations of the accoutrement - orange blossom and lavender gave a floral fragrance added nuance to an otherwise one-note dish CHOCOLAT CHAUD ($2.50) (child size): - run-of-the-mill hot chocolate topped with whipped cream - child size was still a huge cup and more than I could finish; apparently the regular size is a whole bowl of hot chocolate
